Log 5

Following playtesting during week 9 of our course some minor changes were made to the game board and cards to aide in visibility, such as adjusting font sizes and layouts. Attached to this post you can review our final presentation slides, and overall our game was received very well. We were lucky enough to have one of the original designers of Magnitude critiquing our updated model of the same system.

Some of the key points of feedback we received would be that, like Magnitude, our game may be a little too balanced and could possibly stand to be a bit more difficult for the players. For mass consumption of our game we would also benefit from creating a "Facilitation Guide" in order to allow people to run our game who may be unfamiliar with the concepts. Along with having a facilitator to play the game, they would also be a guide in a post-game debrief and educate the players in possible next steps to get involved in the real world to inspire the change we desperately need in order to protect our environment and promote sustainability.

Another potential next step could be to create different versions of the game in order to allow it to scale to different age groups and difficulties as well as leaning into the "Role-Playing" aspect of our game as players assume the role of an Alderman of an unnamed Major Metropolitan City. Allowing players to become fully immersed in their roles and lose sight of the ultimate goals of satisfying all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in favor of selfish goals that are short sighted and ultimately will deter from the progress required in order to maintain a sustainable society.
